Job summary

Arizona Public Service (APS) seeks a Civil Engineering graduate for the Legacy Engineering Program at Palo Verde. The 12-month orientation combines on-the-job training, site rotations, and technical classroom sessions to build engineering skills.

The cohort hires will be assigned to a work group after completion, with opportunities to contribute to data analyses, design work, and project planning across the site.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories.
  • Use commonly applied engineering approaches and calculations.
  • Problem analysis/resolution techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the analysis and preparation of data, technical reviews and evaluations, trend analyses, and related studies to aid decision making.
  • Assists in preparing engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, scheduling, evaluations and studies and ensures technical soundness and regulatory compliance.
  • Interfaces with customer and other departments to ensure project objectives meet requirements, budget and schedule.
  • Provides technical and field support within areas of specialty to internal staff and customers, identifies deficiencies and initiates corrective action.
  • Participates in the preparation of business cases and operational plans to implement projects.
  • Communicates results of designs, studies or approaches to management and customers.
  • Keeps abreast of current technology and engineering developments to maintain technical expertise.
