Job summary

Arizona Public Service Company is seeking an Engineer I for the Mechanical/Chemical track in the Legacy Engineering Program at Palo Verde. The position features a ~12-month orientation with on‑the‑job rotations, classroom training, and cohort progression into a Palo Verde work group.

A BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from ABET-accredited program is required, with emphasis on applying engineering principles and problem-solving methods in a growing energy environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and ability to apply basic discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories.
• Use commonly applied engineering approaches and calculations.
• Problem analysis/resolution techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assists in analysis and preparation of data, technical reviews and evaluations to aid decision making.
• Assists in preparing engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, scheduling, evaluations and studies.
• Interfaces with customer and other departments to ensure project objectives are understood and meet requirements, budget and schedule.
• Provides technical and field support and identifies deficiencies, potential schedule or quality problems and initiates corrective action plans.
• Participates in preparing business cases and operational plans to implement projects.
• Contacts customers and management to obtain or present technical data and results.
• Remains cognizant of current technology and engineering developments and maintains skills.
