Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Engineer-in-Training to join the municipal engineering team in Minneapolis/Plymouth. The entry‑level role offers exposure to highways, local roads, utilities, parks, trails, and related infrastructure, with supervision by a Licensed Engineer.

You will collaborate with design teams, prepare reports and cost estimates, and assist in construction activities while developing technical and professional skills for a growing career in civil engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months.
• Co‑op/Internship experience preferred for new graduates; 1‑2 years of related civil engineering experience for more experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Support the team in developing civil designs, plans, specifications, reports and other technical tasks under supervision.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
• Perform field work/construction observation under supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager.
• Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract admin tasks.
• Communicate professionally with project team members, clients and contractors.
• Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, sustainability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Utilize 3D technologies and modeling software in development, design and analysis of civil systems.
• Compute and review cost estimates for project feasibility, budgeting, and value engineering opportunities.
• Collect and analyze data and perform calculations that support civil design decisions.
• Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
