Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is hiring a Civil Designer II in the Atlanta area to take greater design ownership and sharpen technical judgment. You will work on land development projects, expanding your Civil 3D and AutoCAD proficiency while coordinating technicians and preparing plans and reports for clients.

You will build toward licensure and contribute to project teams, with opportunities for client interaction, schedule management, and adherence to company design standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology required or preferred.
• EIT certification strongly preferred.
• 2+ years of experience designing land development projects using Civil 3D.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software applications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare routine design calculations and data for analyses.
• Exercise independent judgment on design issues within scope.
• Draft project plans, specifications, exhibits, and reports; coordinate technicians.
• Prepare quantity and cost estimates; support construction plans with CAD.
• Follow company graphic standards with proficiency in design standards.
• Prepare permit applications and bid packages; help manage schedule and budget.
• Occasional client contact and coordination; attend project meetings with clients/agencies/contractors.
• Communicate project status regularly to the Project Manager and maintain CAD standards.
