Thomas & Hutton in Nashville, TN is seeking a Civil Designer III to apply independent judgment across civil systems, prepare design calculations, and engage with clients at a staff level.

You will work with Civil 3D and AutoCAD, mentor toward PE licensure, and support project teams with design drawings, plans, and cost estimates in a collaborative, on-site environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 3+ years designing land development with Civil 3D.
• FE/EIT certification; eligible to sit for the PE exam where state rules allow.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks with reduced oversight.
• Client-service mindset and collaborative approach to project teams.

Responsabilités

• Use independent judgment to prepare design calculations and engineering analyses across civil systems.
• Independently prepare portions of construction plans, specs, reports, and cost estimates.
• Anticipate problems and resolve conflicts before affecting schedule or quality.
• Prepare drawings and details using CADD tools to produce necessary graphics for moderately complex projects.
• May assist in preparing cost proposals, schedules, and estimates.
• Maintain moderate client contact; attend meetings with clients, contractors, or agencies as directed.
• Work as part of a project team to coordinate schedule and budget requirements.
• Receive direction on complex problems and seek review for proper application of judgment.
• Attain mentored experience toward PE licensure from a licensed civil engineer.
