NYC Parks is an award-winning city agency that designs, builds, and cares for public spaces for New Yorkers to connect, play, and enjoy. NYC Parks manages more than 30,000 acres or 14% of the land in New York City, encompassing more than 5,000 properties. Our assets include recreation centers, sporting facilities, athletic fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, pools, historic houses, nature centers, golf courses, marinas, and beaches.

Within Citywide Technical Services (CWS), the Capital Team collaborates with Parks’ leadership and other City Agencies to assess, design, and reconstruct facilities in need of improvements. The Capital unit aims for design excellence supporting the City’s sustainability goals. The Project Administrator will support planning, administrative tasks, and measurement and verification for Energy, Green Infrastructure, and State of Good Repair programs at DPR, impacting neighborhood growth, public health, and community recreation across NYC.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Perform project management work on design and construction of routine reconstruction projects for the Citywide Services Capital Team.
  2. Develop architectural, landscape, or engineering drawing plans.
  3. Help develop new architectural, landscape, or engineering methods and strategies.
  4. Monitor project progress and prepare reports on design and construction, tracking milestones and budgets.
  5. Assist in preparing RFPs, grant applications, and related documents.
  6. Present design plans to stakeholders within and outside the agency.
  7. Provide design and construction support on architectural and engineering matters.

Work Location: Randall’s Island, Manhattan

Qualification Requirements

  1. This vacancy is only open to current permanent city employees in the Project Manager civil service title, those on leave from it, or those reachable on the civil service list (Exam No. 4076).

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, construction, urban planning, or related fields, plus one year of relevant project management experience; or
  2. High school diploma or equivalent plus five years of relevant experience; or
  3. High school diploma or equivalent plus a combination of education and experience totaling five years, with college credits counting towards experience.

Preferred Skills

  1. Master’s degree.
  2. Experience with contracts and budgets.
  3. Technical specifications and estimates experience.
  4. Excellent administrative and communication skills.
  5. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint.
  6. Valid NY State driver license.
