Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking an Assistant City Engineer to supervise and perform advanced professional engineering work in planning, design, review, construction, and maintenance of transportation and drainage infrastructure. Requires PE license, Civil/Mechanical/Structural background, and strong project leadership in a municipal setting.

Salary ranges from $67,393.87 to $101,069.12 annually (Grade 35). 40-hour week; overtime may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering; PE license preferred.
• License as a Professional Engineer in Louisiana; out-of-state licenses require 1 year to obtain Louisiana certification.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital projects: budgets, schedules, and documentation.
• Oversee design/construction, inspections, and change orders; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate planning, design, bids, and project approvals; supervise engineering staff.
• Serve as liaison to public, officials, and other agencies; prepare executive summaries.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering

Professional Engineer license (Louisiana)

Driver's license

Flood plain management certification (preferred)
