Job summary

The New York City Police Department’s Department Advocate's Office seeks a City Research Scientist II to join a team of analysts. You will assist executive staff with disciplinary tracking, trend analysis, and database projects while developing Power BI dashboards and presenting findings to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities include monitoring metrics, identifying demographics, and collaborating with attorneys to build process flows.

Qualifications

  • Master's in physical/biological/environmental science or public health.
  • Level II requires doctorate with 1 year supervisory/administrative/research experience, or Master's with 3 years research experience, or equivalent plus Master's and 2+ years.
  • Two years as City Research Scientist Level I can substitute for some requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Test changes and document results for the disciplinary tracking system.
  • Perform trend analysis and support research and DB projects.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Present data findings clearly to non-data audiences.
  • Monitor key metrics for case flow procedures and measure effectiveness.
  • Identify trends, demographics, and actionable insights for disciplinary decisions.
  • Prepare reports with analyses and findings from data.
  • Lead long- and short-term analytic projects to support transparency.
  • Collaborate with Attorneys to build process flows and tracking tools.
  • Prioritize deadlines based on data requests volume.
