Job summary

The City of New York seeks an experienced Data Visualization Analyst to join the Strategic Planning & Analytics Bureau in Bronx County. The role will design and maintain dashboards and automated reports translating complex criminal justice data into clear, actionable information for leadership and external audiences.

Ideal candidates will combine strong communication with technical skills in querying, analyzing, and preparing data for analysis and presentation, using SQL, R, Stata, and Power BI.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree with two years in community work or related duties.
• High school graduation with six years of related experience.
• Equivalent combination with at least one year of experience as described in "1".

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and other data visualization products.
• Translate complex data into clear dashboards, charts, tables, reports, and presentations for non-technical audiences.
• Apply data visualization and storytelling to communicate trends and policy-relevant findings.
• Collaborate with analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to identify reporting needs and develop data products.
• Query, clean, transform, validate, and analyze data using SQL, R, Stata, and related tools.
• Develop and maintain automated and reproducible dashboard processes and reports.
• Assess data quality and suitability for analysis and reporting.
• Support ad hoc analyses and recurring performance reporting.
• Perform other analytic and data visualization projects as assigned.
