Job summary

The City of Cambridge Department of Transportation seeks a Parking Enforcement Officer to uphold parking regulations and ensure orderly traffic flow. You will ticket illegally parked vehicles, patrol routes, and monitor metered and non-metered areas while providing courteous public service.

Applicants should communicate clearly, read signage, and handle conflicts professionally. Prior bilingual skills are a plus, and physical stamina for outdoor work is required in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and the public, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to interpret regulations and read signs.

• Ability to manage conflict and de-escalate difficult situations.
• Basic math skills needed.

Responsibilities

• Tickets illegally parked cars using a handheld Ticketing Device.
• Patrols assigned routes, such as parking lots and City streets.
• Electronically monitors vehicles parked in metered and non-metered areas to ticket violations.
• Enforces snow and ice regulations during winter by issuing notices to homeowners.
• Prepares and writes reports relative to enforcement duties.
