Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking interns to support its Work Management organization at the Monticello Nuclear Plant in Monticello, MN, or Prairie Island Nuclear Plant in Welch, MN. The paid internship focuses on developing data-driven dashboards and reports to aid operational decisions.

Ideal candidates are current students pursuing CIS/DS/CS degrees, with experience in SQL, Power BI, Excel, and Python. This hybrid role offers in-person collaboration and a May 24, 2027 start date.

Qualifications

• Current student, junior or higher.
• Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) / part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports to support operational and management decision making.
• Collect, organize and analyze data from multiple data sources to improve data accuracy and accessibility.
• Design and implement automated reporting processes that reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with staff to understand business processes, identify reporting needs and translate them into meaningful data visualizations and performance metrics.
• Identify opportunities to leverage technology and analytics to improve workflows, operational performance and strategic decision making.
