Job summary

Xcel Energy offers two Nuclear Engineering internships at the Prairie Island and Monticello nuclear plants. Interns will join the reactor engineering group to monitor reactor cores and analyze trend data, helping with improvements to core and fuel monitoring.

Ideal candidates are current students pursuing Nuclear Engineering, able to work full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year, commuting in-person per our hybrid policy.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher.
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Nuclear Engineering.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week).
• Hybrid work policy with in-person commuting to the designated site.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring nuclear reactor cores and analyzing trend data.
• Generate procedure change requests for reactor engineering procedures.
• Support data collection and analysis related to reactor core components and thermal limits.
