Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minnesota is offering a paid internship in its Work Management organization, with a May 24, 2027 start. You will develop dashboards, analyze data, and design automated reports to support operational and management decisions.

The role requires current enrollment in a related degree, willingness to work full-time in summer and part-time during the school year, and to commute to Monticello, MN or Welch, MN under a hybrid model.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher.
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.
• Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework.
• Proficiency with tools such as SQL, Power BI, Excel (Power Query/ Pivot Tables) and Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports to support operational and management decision making.
• Collect, organize and analyze data from multiple data sources to improve data accuracy and accessibility.
• Design and implement automated reporting processes that reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with staff to understand business processes, identify reporting needs and translate them into meaningful data visualizations and performance metrics.
• Identify opportunities to leverage technology and analytics to improve workflows, operational performance and strategic decision making.
