Job summary

Jackson County Library District seeks a Library Associate to perform front-line customer service and a range of paraprofessional duties at the Circulation desk. You will welcome patrons, issue cards, check materials in/out, and help with holds and account questions.

The role emphasizes excellent service, accuracy in processing materials, and potential involvement in programs for all ages. A high school diploma or GED is required; two years of library experience and Spanish bilingual ability are

Responsibilities

Welcomes and registers patrons, issues library cards, checks materials in/out, and manages patron accounts.
Processes incoming and returned materials in all formats, including holds/requests and transfers as needed.
Performs hold routines to prepare materials for pickup.
Accepts and processes fines, fees, or other payments.
Assists patrons with locating materials via computers and explains procedures.
May assist branch manager with library programming and outreach for all ages.
May plan and execute storytime programs and other programs for all ages, including Spark Space.
Provides information regarding programs, events, conference rooms, etc.
Shelves materials and addresses patron conduct or safety issues as needed.
Participates in business-related activities to keep the library open and operational.
