Job summary

Salvation Army A Georgia Corp in Temple, TX seeks a non-DOT driver to support the Christmas Angel Tree and related gift transportation programs. You will drive vans or trucks to assigned locations, pick up gifts, and deliver to the Christmas warehouse or designated worksites while ensuring safety and vehicle cleanliness.

This role requires a valid Texas driver’s license and at least two years of driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to pick up gifts and transport to warehouses or designated sites.
• Coordinate routes to meet schedules and ensure timely deliveries.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicle interiors and exteriors.
• Assist with janitorial tasks and warehouse organization as needed.
• Help set up Christmas displays and transfer materials for events.
• Safely transport volunteers and donors when required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOUDrives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to assigned locations for Corps/Area Command Christmas Angel Tree program donations and gifts and/or Christmas Kettle program transportation of bell ringers to designated worksites; ensures the safety, security and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from assigned locations to pick up gifts and take to the Christmas warehouse and/or Corps; organizes schedule pick-ups by most direct route to arrive at destinations according to schedule.Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to homes, agencies, churches and any other designated location to pick up gifts, stockings, etc. for delivery to the Corps.Drives vans or trucks (Non-DOT) to and from Drive-thru and/or drop-off events at Malls or other assigned locations.Maintains cleanliness of truck and/or van inside and outside.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists with janitorial and general clean-up work at the Corps, warehouse facility or assigned location as needed.Assists with routing of traffic, when necessary, at the Corps and/or Area Command warehouse locations during Christmas Angel Tree distribution as requested.Assists with setting up trees, tables and stands for Christmas display and disassembling at the end of the Christmas Season.Performs other related work as required.MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:Truck and/or Van Back BeltCleaning MaterialsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol, and organizational structure.Knowledge of the assigned geographic area.Ability to organize route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption.Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers and donors.Ability to follow instructions.Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read and communicate the English language effectively.Ability to operate commercial equipment.Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing duties given.Ability to perform general cleaning activities for building.Ability to safely transport employees in a van.Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organizationand its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing and climbing as well as lift and carry and/or push/pull moderate (25 – 50 lbs) and possibly heavy (50-100 lbs) materials and donations.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed outside with exposure to changes in weather and outdoor conditions including dirt, dust and/or disagreeable sights and odors.All employees recognize that The Salvation Army is a church and agree that they will do nothing as an employee of The Salvation Army to undermine its religious mission.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOUEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School diploma or GED Anda minimum of two years driving experience.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:Valid Texas Driver’s LicenseEqual Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled
