Job summary

Career Team is hiring a Choices/SNAP Career Advisor to provide career counseling, intensive case management, and follow-up services for Choices and SNAP participants. You will work under the supervision of the Choices/SNAP/NCP Program Manager to support eligible jobseekers.

Responsibilities include intake, eligibility determinations, employment planning, and connecting clients with training and job opportunities. Onsite work with travel within the region is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1-2 years of work experience or equivalent
• Strong communication skills and knowledge about community resources
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make well-thought-out decisions
• Able to work with and relate to participants and be culturally sensitive
• Must be computer literate and have MS Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) skills, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems
• Ability to work in settings with a culturally diverse customer base and be culturally sensitive
• Ability to motivate clients toward achieving goals
• Meet/exceed goals and objectives
• Excellent interpersonal, time management, customer service, organizational and written communication skills
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Provide Choices/SNAP case management services to eligible participants
• Complete intake and eligibility determination for the program
• Assess employment and training needs through interviewing and testing
• Enter data into TIERS or Work In Texas and other databases
• Guide jobseekers through individual employment plans (IEP)
• Counsel clients on job opportunities, training programs and services
• Refer individuals to services and follow up
• Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, and group presentations
• Maintain compliant case files with eligibility documents
• Meet program benchmarks
• Participate in staff events and trainings
• Complete required reports
• Approach tasks with a ZAG mindset
• Perform other duties as needed
