Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) is seeking a Controls Engineer - Chiller to join our team in Plano, Texas.

This hybrid role focuses on control system engineering for centrifugal chiller and MCP products, coordinating with internal teams and customers. The ideal candidate will have seven or more years in control design for HVAC or industrial systems, with strong PLC/DDC knowledge, system integration, and interface management across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, control, mechanical engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in control system design/engineering for HVAC, centrifugal chiller, or industrial systems.
• Strong understanding of control logic, PLC/DDC, and industrial automation.
• Experience with system integration and interface definition across disciplines.
• Ability to read and develop control diagrams, sequences of operation, and specs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review control logic for centrifugal chiller and MCP systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Define system architecture and control strategies, including temperature, flow, and energy optimization.
• Design and validate interfaces between chillers, pumps, valves, and supervisory systems (BMS/DCIM).
• Support development of advanced controls, including automation, optimization, and future digital integration.
• Own design calculations and analysis packages (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, harmonics, transients/dynamic performance).
• Define interface requirements and responsibility boundaries among internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
• Coordinate system integration across multiple vendors and subsystems.
• Translate customer requirements into clear control system specifications and functional requirements.
• Support testing, commissioning and site validation activities.
• Lead vendor design reviews and manage deviation/issue closure through corrective actions.
