Job summary

The Scottsdale Unified School District invites applicants for a Childcare Provider 2 to support the planning of its before- and after-school program and supervise students. You will help prepare sites, supervise activities, and enforce district safety rules.

Position requires meeting AZ staff qualifications for caregivers, 18+ years old, and compliance with DPS fingerprint requirements. The role features split shifts and non-exempt status within a school setting.

Qualifications

• Requires AZ staff qualifications to be a teacher-caregiver under section R9-5-401 of the Arizona Administrative Code.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and provide documentation of qualifying childcare experience or education.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain rapport with students, employees and community.

• Supervise children at all times.
• Administer first aid when necessary.

• Maintain behavior standards per district policy.
• Keep the Childcare Specialist informed of student activities.
• Participate in clean-up activities.
• Complete at least 18 training hours per year as required.

Position Objective
The job Childcare Provider 2 is done for the purposes of assisting the Childcare Specialist with the planning of the before and after school program and supervision of children.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community.
• Make sure that site and activities are prepared prior to children’s arrival.
• Supervise the children at all times.
• Administer first aid when necessary.
• Treat every child with respect.
• Maintain acceptable behavior standards and make sure that behavior is consistent with district and program policy.
• Keep the Childcare Specialist informed of student activities.
• Share and participate in clean up activities.
• Annually complete a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training per department of Health Services regulations.
• Other job related duties as assigned.
  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (positions in this class typically require):
Qualifications
Must meet the staff qualifications to be a teacher-caregiver under section R9-5-401 of the Arizona Administrative Code. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and provide written documentation of one of the following:

• A high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and six months of qualifying child care experience;
• At least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university including at least 6 credits in in early childhood education and 6 months qualifying childcare experience.
• N.A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P., or C.P.C. credential; or
• Associate or bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in the areas of early childhood, child development or closely related field.
  

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: (positions in this class typically require):

• Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)
• Background in early childhood education or related fields.
• Hold current first aid and CPR certification or be able to obtain within 30 days.
