Job description

  • Saturday and Sunday mornings : 8 : 00 AM - 12 : 00 PM
  • First Friday evening of the month : During the summer
  • Additional summer hours : Based on the club's needs.

Position Summary : The Childcare Attendant will provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children of Bellerive Country Club's ("Bellerive") Members and guests.

  • Provides a comfortable, safe, and non-threatening environment for children.
  • Learns children's names, preferences, and personalities.
  • Acts as a positive role model in teaching, nurturing, and supporting children.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Gives each child individual attention and guidance and helps them build self-esteem and fosters a sense of independence.
  • Helps teach children to share toys and work in groups.
  • Fairly disciplines children, if needed, to help them control disruptive behavior and teach them good habits.
  • Plays videos, music, games, and reads with children.
  • Supervises children's play activities.
  • Assists in arts and crafts activities with children.
  • Resolve disputes between children, as necessary.
  • Keep play areas in a safe, tidy, and clean condition.
  • Leads children in exercises, on-grounds field trips, and other activities approved by the Director of Clubhouse Operations
  • Requires being attentive and anticipating situations that would compromise the children's physical or emotional well-being and avoiding or minimizing such situations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clubhouse Operations.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to balance multiple projects and have strong project and time management skills. Must possess high attention to detail.
  • Must display an aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously, take direction, and exercise good judgment. Must have the ability to reason and apply common-sense understanding to situations encountered.
  • Must have authority to reason and apply common sense understanding to situations encountered.
  • Must have a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills in order to communicate and work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Must use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate fluent English; compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.
  • Ability to simultaneously process routine daily functions, resolve sensitive issues, and complete complex assignments utilizing above-average critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary, as well as nights, weekends, and holidays when needed to ensure the appropriate demands of the department.
  • The physical demands of this position are representative of those that might be met by an employee for them to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These include being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday and having the ability to transport twenty-five (25) pounds.

Qualifications / Education :

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development, Applied Psychology, or Elementary Education, or in pursuit thereof, preferred.
  • Two (2) years of work experience as a childcare provider in a pre-school or before-and-after setting preferred.
  • A Child Development Associate credential from the Council of Professional Recognition or a Child Care Professional credential from the National Child Care Associate is desirable.
  • CPR / First Aid training is required.
