City of Brighton seeks staff for a child care role working with children aged 6 months to 9 years at the Recreation Center. You will help create a welcoming, engaging, and safe environment for kids and their families.

The position requires 18+ years old, experience with children, and passing a background check; CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions are required within 60 days. Bilingual Spanish is a plus, shifts vary.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, engaging environment that supports children's development.
• Maintain supervision and safety of the environment and activities.
• Prepare, organize, inspect, and set up program materials and equipment for safety and readiness.
• Maintain accurate children's files and documentation per childcare policies.
• Enforce childcare and facility policies and sanitize toys and materials.
• Complete attendance, accident, and injury reports as required.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled.

Hiring Range - $16.00 to $16.25

OPERATING HOURS

Monday thru Saturday 8:25am to 1pm

Monday thru Thursday 4:55 to 7:30pm; shifts vary - a minimum of 9 hours per month is required.

SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Provide a creative, safe, and engaging environment that supports children's social, emotional, and learning development while ensuring parents feel comfortable and confident.
• Maintain supervision and control of the environment by monitoring activities and facilities, using required safety equipment, anticipating potential hazards, and taking appropriate action to prevent accidents.
• Prepare, organize, inspect, set up, and break down program materials and equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness for use.
• Maintain accurate children's files and documentation in compliance with all childcare and building policies and procedures.
• Enforce all childcare and facility policies, including cleaning and sanitizing toys and materials.
• Complete and report all required documentation for attendance, accidents, and injuries within the assigned area.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL TRAINING

Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience working with children. Candidate must also pass background check. CPR, First Aid and Universal Precautions required within 60 days of hire.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATION

• Communicate in Spanish
• Verified previous experience with children aged 6 months and older

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina, and flexibility to move or carry up to 50 pounds, stand, crouch, kneel, bend and stoop while assisting children for long periods of time. The candidate must have adequate hearing and vision to discriminate between different sounds, objects, people, and colors at near and far distances.
