Job summary

The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is seeking a Childcare Worker to guide and care for children in the program under the guidance of the Childcare Department Coordinator.

The role focuses on enforcing center policies, planning activities, and maintaining a safe environment for infants through school-aged children, with availability on Wednesdays and evenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to learn and follow policies and procedures.
• Willingness to work evenings and Wednesdays.

Responsibilities

• Explain and enforce Health and Recreation Center policies and procedures when necessary.
• Learn appropriate techniques in education, recreation, health, fitness, and safety for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children.
• Plan and administer activities for children in the childcare program per the Childcare Department Coordinator.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in compliance with legal obligations for working with children.
• Work assigned shifts including Fall Festival, Woman's Auxiliary Luncheon, and Bella Ballet Recital.
• Attend monthly general staff meetings.
• Attend meetings called by the Childcare Department Coordinator.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Childcare Worker is responsible to the Childcare Department Coordinator for guiding and caring for the children in the program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:

• Explain and enforce Health and Recreation Center policies and procedures when necessary
• Learn appropriate techniques in education, recreation, health, fitness, and safety for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children
• Plan and administer activities for children involved in the childcare program per the directions of the Childcare Department Coordinator
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in compliance with legal obligations required for working with children
• Work assigned shifts including shifts for Fall Festival, Woman's Auxiliary Luncheon, and Bella Ballet Recital.
• Attend monthly general staff meetings
• Attend meetings called by the Childcare Department Coordinator

Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION:

The person in this position should have a high school degree.

EXPERIENCE:

The person in this position should have experience working with children.

SUPERVISION:

The person in this position will supervise no one.

The person in this position will report to the Childcare Department Coordinator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The person in this position will work in the gym. It will require intermittently sitting, standing or stooping while typically standing or walking. It may require lifting light objects (less than 25 lbs) or heavy objects (more than 50 lbs).

EQUIPMENT:

The person in this position will use the following equipment: various fitness and children's equipment.
