General Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Rec Center Director, this position supervises children patronage at the Recreation Center. The employee informs parents of rules and assists children in adjusting to the environment.

Essential Functions

• Greets patrons and children
• Registers children
• Informs parents of rules and regulations
• Plays with children
• Ensures surrounding area is clean and safe
• Performs cleaning tasks as per shift list
• Performs other duties as assigned

Ability to apply tact, poise, and friendliness; work with others; concentrate amid distractions; remember details; handle stressful situations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, or currently enrolled and expected to graduate within a year. Additional child care courses helpful.
• Six months of child care experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; flexibility required.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Physical Demands

Requires frequent sitting, talking, occasional walking, handling objects, and reaching with hands and arms. Must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Close vision and ability to adjust focus required.
