Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Honesdale, PA seeks a County Caseworker 2 to support children and families in the community. You will identify needs, connect families to services, and help them work toward safer living situations as part of the Wayne County Children and Youth Services team.

The role requires interviewing, assessment, case management, and court preparation with travel involved. A six‑month County Caseworker 1 equivalent or a qualifying degree with related experience is required.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as County Caseworker 1 or equivalent
• Successful completion of County Social Casework Intern program or
• A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major or a bachelor’s degree with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or related social sciences with one year of professional social casework experience
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in related social sciences.

Responsibilities

• Interview clients and family members to identify barriers affecting child well‑being
• Guide families in forming plans for healthier behaviors and lifestyle changes
• Manage a caseload and maintain organized, current reports and records
• Assist in providing protective and supportive services for children facing abuse or neglect
• Prepare case materials and present information at hearings as required
• Travel frequently to support families in various environments

Education

Bachelor's degree in social welfare
