Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Northumberland County Child Welfare Service is seeking a County Caseworker 1 to support children and families in need. You'll provide entry-level casework, meet with families, and coordinate with schools, hospitals, and service providers to address safety and service goals.

This full-time role in Sunbury requires on-site work from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM with occasional after-hours responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level coursework which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
• A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Responsibilities

• Service Support: Provide entry level casework services to children, youth, and families referred to the agency
• Family Contact: Meet regularly with children, parents, and foster families to help resolve concerns and support service goals
• Home Assessment: Schedule and conduct interviews, home visits, and meetings to review safety and progress toward goals
• Documentation Tasks: Prepare forms, maintain case records, and complete required paperwork according to agency procedures
• After Hours Response: Respond to reports outside normal hours during periodic on call assignments
• Agency Collaboration: Work with schools, hospitals, courts, and service providers to help families reach service plan goals

Education

Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level coursework including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences
