Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Worker Assistant to help remedy abuse and neglect and support families and vulnerable individuals in Charleston County. The role involves casework support, arranging transportation to resources, and coordinating referrals and records requests.

This position requires a High School Diploma and at least one year of child welfare experience; an Associate Degree or higher may substitute part of the requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and one (1) year or more of child welfare relevant program experience.
• Associate Degree or higher may be substituted for all or part of the work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Remedy abuse, neglect, exploitation or self-neglect of adults or children unable to protect themselves; provide or arrange transportation to resources as part of the social service aide plan.
• Participate as a member of a professional team to plan services for clients.
• Make requests for educational, medical, dental, law enforcement records; conduct CLEAR search.
• Make referrals to service providers; send referrals for family group conferencing.
• Assist with other administrative support functions (correspondences, copy, fax, email).
• Perform shelter or emergency response duties when needed (FTE only).
• Protect personal identifying information (PII) and safeguard agency networks and data.
