Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager to support investigations and case planning for children and families.

You will conduct initial safety assessments, engage families with empathy, and collaborate with law enforcement and legal teams. The role emphasizes documentation, training, and compliance with policy while ensuring safety and well‑being in the home.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s degrees as specified; Master’s may substitute for experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Experience with child welfare or investigations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform case management in child welfare investigations per DSS policy.
• Conduct timely initial investigations of abuse/neglect reports and coordinate services.
• Engage families and partners with empathy, including timely communications.
• Document case activities clearly in CAPSS and maintain records.
• Maintain child welfare certification and complete the required training yearly.
• Protect PII and safeguard DSS networks and data.
