Job summary

State of Alaska in Anchorage is seeking an Accounting Technician 2 to perform detailed audits of child support cases and ensure accurate documentation of payments and credits in compliance with laws and orders. You will reconcile data across databases and coordinate with external agencies.

The role emphasizes case adjustments, audit worksheets, and clear findings while collaborating with staff and providing training. In-person training and office presence are required.

Qualifications

• One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.
• Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.
• Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Responsibilities

• Independently audit child support cases, documenting payments and credits per statutes and orders.
• Reconcile financial data across databases and external agencies; identify discrepancies and correct.
• Handle case adjustments such as new setups, reinstatements, modifications, and verifications for TANF and Foster Care.
• Prepare audit worksheets and write explanations of findings with accurate rule application.
• Collaborate with staff across the division and provide accounting technician guidance and training.
