Job summary

The State of Alaska, Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, invites applications for an Accounting Technician 3 in Anchorage. Under the Inmate Banking Supervisor, you will perform internal audit activities, review inmate and welfare funds, and provide training and oversight of banking operations.

This role requires two years of technical accounting or bookkeeping experience, with substitutions allowed for certain education credentials.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.
• Substitutions include: Accounting Technician certification substitutes for one year; college coursework substitutions for up to two years depending on accounting focus; an Associate’s degree can substitute for two years of experience with appropriate accounting coursework.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive internal audit activities including analysis, decision-making, and recommendations.
• Review fiscal and accounting transactions pertaining to inmate financial accounts.
• Deliver training and provide oversight of inmate banking operations.
• Review and audit inmate funds and welfare funds managed by the Department.
