Job summary

The Alaska Department of Revenue, Division of Child Support Services, seeks an Accounting Technician 2 in Anchorage to conduct detailed audits of child support cases and ensure accurate documentation of payments and credits in compliance with statutes and orders.

You will reconcile data across databases and perform case adjustments, prepare audit worksheets, and communicate findings clearly while mentoring other accounting technicians.

Qualifications

• One year of entry level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.
• Certification as an Accounting Technician can substitute for the required experience.
• Post secondary education from an accredited college can substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
• Preference for candidates with financial audits, bookkeeping, interpreting regulations, or using multiple accounting or case-management systems.

Responsibilities

• Audit child support cases and document payments and credits in compliance with statutes, regulations, and orders.
• Reconcile financial data across databases and external child support agencies; identify discrepancies and take corrective actions.
• Process case adjustments, including new cases, reinstatements, modifications, and distribution verifications.
• Prepare audit worksheets and written explanations of findings; interpret and apply child support rules.
• Collaborate with staff across the Division and mentor accounting technicians.
