BROOKINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT 5-1 is seeking a Cook-Baker to prepare and serve nutritious meals for students in a clean, courteous environment. You will follow a planned menu and ensure meals meet quality standards.

The job follows the school calendar, working 7.5 hours per day, with benefits including health & dental insurance premiums paid, a $25,000 life insurance policy, and a personal leave & sick leave package. Background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner.
• Prepares food according to a planned menu and determines if the finished product is of the best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.
• Assumes responsibility for seeing that during meal service periods the supply of food offered is replenished regularly.
• Shows proper care and consideration for all equipment.
• Assists in the daily clean up of the kitchen and service areas.
• Assumes responsibility for storage and disposal of unused foods.
• Other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Director of Child Nutrition & Kitchen Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To prepare and serve the students nutritious meals in an atmosphere of courtesy, efficiency and cleanliness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner.
• Prepares food according to a planned menu and determines if the finished product is of the best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The Board shall offer a letter of agreement with wages and benefits to be determined by the board as delineated in the Classified Employee Handbook.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

This position is responsible to the Director of Child Nutrition and the performance of this position will be evaluated by the Director of Child Nutrition.
