Job summary

The Brookings School District 5-1 is seeking a Kitchen General Helper to assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals to students in a courteous, efficient and clean environment. Responsibilities include helping with the serving area, setting up and cleaning, and performing other duties as assigned.

You will report to the Cashier and Food Service Director and work under the terms defined in the Classified Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

• Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times.
• Demonstrates good communication with students, staff, and coworkers.
• Understands basic sanitation and cleaning procedures to keep work areas clean.
• Organizes time/workload to be ready for meal service and reviews menus in advance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with serving meals in a quick and pleasant manner.
• Assist with set up and clean up of the serving area.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Maintain mandatory attendance on dates selected for work by substitutes.

• Can organize time and workload to be ready to serve meals at appropriate time. Looks ahead on menus to determine what need to be done.

Primary Function

To help prepare and serve the students nutritious meals in an atmosphere of courtesy, efficiency and cleanliness.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis.

• Mandatory attendance on dates substitutes choose to take jobs/work

Terms Of Employment

The Board shall offer a letter of agreement with wages and benefits to be determined by the board as delineated in the Classified Employee Handbook.

Evaluation Procedure

Position will be evaluated annually by the Food Service Director.
