Job summary

Mifflin County Children and Youth in Pennsylvania is seeking a County Caseworker 1 to support families and protect children through direct services and coordinated care.

The role focuses on initial responses, case reviews, safety assessments, and connecting families with community resources to promote stability.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, full-time with on-site requirements; telework is not offered.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college credits in sociology or related social sciences.
• Bachelor’s degree including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or related social sciences.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience with 12 credits and one year in paraprofessional case management.
• Applicants may meet educational requirements within two months of graduating.

Responsibilities

• Initial Action: conduct initial action plans on new intake calls
• Case Review: perform follow-up visits and review existing cases
• Safety Assessment: investigate CPS reports to ensure child safety
• Family Support: coordinate services to stabilize and strengthen families
• Reunification Efforts: monitor progress toward reunification when possible
• Permanency Planning: support permanency options if reunification isn’t possible

Education

Bachelor's degree with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences

Two years experience as County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college-level coursework in related social sciences

Equivalent combination of education and experience with 12 credits and one year of paraprofessional case management
