POSITION OVERVIEW

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a caseworker, you will implement initial action plans on new intake calls, conduct follow‑up visits and review of existing cases, perform CPS investigations, and ensure clients have access to service providers. You will provide and coordinate services and goals for families to help strengthen and stabilize the family unit, prevent out‑of‑home placement, and work cooperatively with families to ensure child safety while encouraging healthy family environments so the family unit may remain intact. You will also monitor family progress to reunite children with their families and provide permanency for children in placement when reunification is no longer an option through adoption or Subsidized Permanent Legal Custodianship (SPLC).

WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Full‑time employment: 72.50 hours bi‑weekly.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 45‑minute unpaid lunch. Caseworkers share on‑call duties and travel/or overtime may be required.
• Telework: Not an option.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework, including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
• A bachelor’s degree with or supplemented by 12 college credits in the aforementioned disciplines; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in the aforementioned disciplines and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar paraprofessional case management position.
• Applicants may be considered within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license that is not suspended.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

• A conditional offer of employment requires drug screening.
• The position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, requiring satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
