Job summary

Arch Insurance North America is seeking an experienced insurance leader to provide strategic direction, management, and leadership for the Surety Underwriting Group. This role is responsible for developing and executing underwriting strategy, achieving business unit objectives, supporting profitable growth, and partnering effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

This position can be performed from any location that is near an Arch Insurance office.

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years of insurance underwriting experience, with strong surety knowledge.
• Experience leading high‑performing, cross-functional teams.
• Talent development including mentoring, coaching and performance management.
• Ability to align strategy with day‑to‑day operations to hit objectives.
• Willingness and ability to travel across North America up to 35%.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction to maximize product-line underwriting results and strengthen competitive positioning.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business unit goals and support profitable growth.
• Lead ongoing management of the group to achieve underwriting and line‑of‑business goals while optimizing resources.
• Evaluate underwriting performance, renewals, new business opportunities, actuarial trends and market opportunities.
• Represent the organization in the marketplace with key customers, agents, and brokers.
• Ensure underwriting products, practices, guidelines, and authority limits comply with regulatory requirements.
• Promote underwriting discipline, product application, and marketing execution to sustain growth.
