Arch Insurance North America seeks an experienced underwriting leader to provide strategic direction for the Surety Underwriting Group. You will develop and execute underwriting strategy, drive profitable growth, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

This role can be performed from any location near an Arch Insurance office. Key responsibilities include setting strategic direction, partnering with stakeholders, and leading the group to meet underwriting and business objectives

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years in insurance underwriting across home office and field environments.
• Experience leading high-performing, cross-functional teams.
• Strong talent development, mentoring and coaching.
• Ability to align strategy with daily operations.
• Willingness to travel across North America (up to 35%).
• Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction to maximize product-line underwriting results and strengthen competitive positioning.
• Partner with stakeholders to achieve business unit goals and support profitable growth.
• Lead ongoing management to achieve underwriting and LOB goals and optimize resources.
• Evaluate underwriting performance, renewals, opportunities, trends, reinsurance, and market opportunities.
• Represent the organization to customers, agents, and brokers.
• Ensure underwriting products and guidelines comply with regulatory requirements.
• Promote underwriting discipline and marketing execution for growth.
