Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. is seeking an experienced insurance leader to provide strategic direction, management, and leadership for the Surety Underwriting Group.

This role develops underwriting strategy, achieves business objectives, and partners with internal and external stakeholders. This position can be performed from any location near an Arch Insurance office, with travel up to 35% across North America.

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years of insurance underwriting experience across home office and field environments with strong knowledge of surety products.
• Proven ability to lead high‑performing, cross‑functional teams with varied experience and skill sets.
• Strong talent development capabilities including mentoring, coaching, leadership development and performance management.
• Ability to align strategy with day‑to‑day operations to achieve key business objectives and drive organizational success.
• Willingness and ability to travel across North America for account and marketing visits.
• Travel up to 35%.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction and actions to maximize product-line underwriting results and strengthen competitive positioning.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business unit goals and support profitable growth.
• Lead ongoing management of the group to achieve underwriting and line‑of‑business goals while optimizing resources.
• Evaluate underwriting performance, renewals, new business opportunities, actuarial trends, ceded reinsurance, market opportunities, and product applications.
• Represent the organization in the marketplace with key customers, agents, and brokers.
• Ensure underwriting products, practices, guidelines, and authority limits comply with regulatory requirements.
• Promote underwriting discipline, product application, and marketing execution to sustain growth.
