Job summary

Arch Insurance North America is seeking an experienced insurance leader to provide strategic direction, management, and leadership for the Surety Underwriting Group. This role develops and executes underwriting strategy, drives profitable growth, and partners with internal and external stakeholders.

This position can be performed from any location near an Arch Insurance office, with travel up to 35% across North America; base compensation ranges from $330,000 to $380,000 per year, plus

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years of insurance underwriting experience across home office and field environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading high‑performing, cross‑functional teams.
• Talent development including mentoring, coaching and performance management, with ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction and execute actions that maximize product-line underwriting results and strengthen competitive positioning.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business unit goals and support profitable growth.
• Lead ongoing management of the group to achieve underwriting and line-of-business goals.
• Evaluate underwriting performance, renewals, new business opportunities, actuarial trends, ceded reinsurance, market opportunities, and product applications.
• Represent the organization with key customers, agents, and brokers.
