Job summary

Arch Insurance North America seeks an experienced insurance leader to provide strategic direction, management, and leadership for the Surety Underwriting Group. This role develops and executes underwriting strategy, drives profitable growth, and partners with internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires extensive surety underwriting experience and proven leadership across home office and field environments, with the ability to travel up to 35% across North America.

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years in insurance underwriting including surety products.
• Proven track record leading cross-functional teams with diverse experience levels.
• Strong talent development, mentoring, leadership development and performance management.
• Ability to align strategy with daily operations to meet key business objectives.
• Willingness to travel across North America for client visits and engagements.
• Travel up to 35%.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction to maximize underwriting results and strengthen market position.
• Partner with stakeholders to achieve business unit goals and profitable growth.
• Lead ongoing management of the group to meet underwriting and business goals.
• Evaluate underwriting performance, renewals, new opportunities, trends, and risk transfer.
• Represent the organization with key customers, agents, and brokers.
• Ensure underwriting products, guidelines, and authority limits comply with regulatory requirements.
• Promote underwriting discipline and effective marketing execution.
