Job summary

Albemarle County is seeking a Chief of Revenue Administration to lead the Office of Revenue Administration in finance and budget. The role directs tax assessment, billing, collection, and compliance programs, and oversees budget development and reporting for local taxes and services.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in business or public administration and at least five years in public finance or tax administration, with leadership experience in local government tax operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, accounting, or related field.
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience in public finance or tax administration.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State, and County tax laws and enforcement procedures.
• Familiar with complex enterprise resource management systems.
• Experience in leadership/management in local government tax operations.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and leads Revenue Administration staff and performance.
• Oversees accurate assessment, billing, collection, and reconciliation of local taxes.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures for revenue administration and customer service.
• Prepares and manages the annual budget for Revenue Administration.
• Represents the County before state agencies and professional associations.
• Ensures compliance with tax laws and supports budget planning.
