Job summary

Burke County Public Health is seeking a Revenue Collections Supervisor in Morganton, NC. This role leads the Tax Department's collections of taxes, fees, and assessments, ensures compliance with applicable laws, and manages electronic payments and reports.

Key duties include supervising staff, resolving taxpayer issues, issuing notices and liens, and coordinating with the Finance Department. A bachelor's degree and several years' tax experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration.
• 3–5 years in tax collection or related field.
• Knowledge of NC tax laws.
• Valid NC Driver's License.
• Notary Public certification within 1 year of hire.
• Deputy Tax Collector Certification within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversees collection of Burke County taxes, fees, and assessments.
• Maintains knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
• Processes payments, balances cash, and oversees reporting.
• Prepares monthly tax reports for Finance Dept and municipalities.
• Responds to taxpayer inquiries and resolves issues.
• Issues notices and liens as needed.
