Shriners Children's St. Louis seeks a Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia to lead its perioperative team, maintain active clinical practice, and drive clinical, educational, and research activities across services.

The role oversees quality, safety, regulatory compliance, budget, and collaboration with hospital leaders, surgeons, and staff, with focus on patient-centered care and program growth.

Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited medical school and completed pediatric anesthesiology fellowship.
• Board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology with pediatric subspecialty preferred.
• Eligibility for active Missouri medical licensure and DEA registration.
• Maintain BLS and PALS certification; meet credentialing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for the department's clinical, educational, and research activities.
• Oversee pediatric anesthesia services across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
• Maintain an active clinical practice aligned with departmental needs.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, Joint Commission, CMS, and regulatory standards.
• Develop and implement departmental protocols, clinical pathways, and quality initiatives.
• Recruit, mentor, and credential anesthesiology physicians and staff; manage budget and resources.
• Participate in institutional leadership and strategic planning; support research and education.

Education

MD/DO from an accredited medical school

ACGME‑accredited anesthesiology residency

Pediatric anesthesiology fellowship

Board certification or eligibility in anesthesiology; subspecialty in pediatric anesthesiology
