Job summary

Shriners Children's St. Louis is recruiting a full-time Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia to provide strategic, clinical, and administrative leadership for its perioperative team while maintaining active clinical duties.

The Chief will lead clinical, educational, and research activities, develop protocols, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with hospital leadership and other departments to advance quality, safety, and patient experience.

Qualifications

• MD or DO required with ACGME anesthesiology residency and pediatric fellowship.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in anesthesiology with pediatric subspecialty certification.
• Minimum seven years of post-residency pediatric anesthesia experience.
• Missouri medical licensure, DEA, hospital credentialing and privileges, and ongoing BLS/PALS certification.
• Strong leadership, communication, and quality-improvement capabilities are expected.
• Three or more years of anesthesia leadership or administrative experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee perioperative anesthesia services and lead the department’s clinical operations.
• Advance quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives and develop clinical protocols.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and participate in peer and incident reviews.
• Recruit, mentor, and support physicians and staff; manage resources and capital planning.
• Serve on the medical executive committee and coordinate with facility leadership and other departments.
