Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking a Head of Payments Technology to define and deliver the next generation of the Bank's payments ecosystem, including modernization of platforms across Wire, ACH, SWIFT, RTP, FedNow, and emerging capabilities.

The role leads an AI-enabled engineering organization, builds strategic technology partnerships, and drives resilience, security, and regulatory compliance across the payments technology portfolio.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading enterprise technology strategy and modernization programs.
• Deep understanding of payments ecosystems (Wire, ACH, SWIFT, ISO 20022, RTP, FedNow).
• Leadership of large, multi-team, multi-location organizations.

Responsibilities

• Define enterprise payments technology strategy aligned with client needs and risk appetite.
• Modernize platforms across Wire, ACH, SWIFT, RTP, FedNow and emerging capabilities.
• Build an AI-enabled engineering organization with DevSecOps and modern testing practices.
• Ensure availability, resilience, security, and regulatory compliance of payment platforms.
• Lead and develop a large, multidisciplinary technology organization.
