Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks a Chief Marine Engineer (Diesel) to supervise and direct the operation and maintenance of the Bureau's marine vessels, and to lead the Marine Section staff in compliance with federal and DEP regulations.

Candidates must hold a USCG MMC with Chief Engineer Limited for motor vessels over 6000 HP, obtain a TWIC within 30 days, pass Coast Guard medical exams and drug tests, and maintain licenses during employment.

Qualifications

  • Valid MMC with Chief Engineer Limited for Motor vessels (≥6000 HP) issued by USCG.
  • TWIC within 30 days of appointment.
  • Medical examination per US Coast Guard regulations.
  • Drug screening and random testing during employment.
  • Licenses and TWIC must be maintained throughout tenure.
  • 55-a Program eligibility may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operation and maintenance of the Bureau's marine vessels.
  • Direct technical staff in the Marine Section.
