Job summary

Shaner Hotels' Durham Marriott City Center is seeking a hands-on Chief Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of the hotel's maintenance, repairs, and building systems, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability for guests.

You will lead a maintenance team, manage daily work orders, and coordinate with other departments to uphold hotel standards. The role requires 2+ years in hotel engineering and strong technical skills; Marriott experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of building systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead a small team and work independently.
• Trade certification or Marriott experience a plus.
• Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and varied shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside the maintenance team.
• Handle daily repairs, troubleshooting, and emergency maintenance.
• Oversee preventive maintenance for guest rooms and hotel facilities.
• Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, mechanical, and building systems.
• Assign daily work, manage work orders, and inspect completed work.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire, health, safety, and building codes.
• Manage tools, equipment, supplies, and the Engineering budget.
• Train and support team members while maintaining hotel standards.
• Partner with other departments to ensure a safe and comfortable guest experience.
