Job summary

Humane Society for Southwest Washington, based in Vancouver, Washington, seeks a seasoned VP of Finance. This exempt, full‑time leadership role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and stewardship, guiding the organization toward sustainable growth.

The VP of Finance partners with executive leadership to align financial strategy with program goals, donor reporting, and capital investments, while ensuring strong internal controls and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Active CPA preferred; CPA license is highly desirable.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience with leadership.
• Nonprofit financial management, donor-restricted funds, grants, and audits.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and internal controls with hands-on support.
• Experience aligning financials with strategy and Board reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial operations with accounting, payroll, AR/AP oversight.
• Deliver timely financial statements and management reports.
• Oversee audits, Form 990, and tax filings with external partners.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and scenario planning.
• Supervise finance and facilities teams; guide IT and capital projects.
• Present financial information to Executive Team and Board.
