Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Chief Engineer (CE) to lead the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility infrastructure in a data center environment.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement new technologies, support operational readiness, and uphold safety and performance standards. This role may support multiple data centers, requiring travel for training or support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee operations of critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within SLAs.
• Provide training to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for engineers and vendor teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and improve current facility efficiency.
• Work outside normal hours for maintenance and respond to emergencies.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to optimize safety, performance and reliability.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendor and staff.
• Establish benchmarks, analyses and reports on operations and maintenance.
• Utilize Excel, Word, Outlook for day-to-day tasks.
