Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead critical data center facility operations in Ohio. You will oversee electrical and mechanical systems, drive reliability, safety, and performance, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement new technologies.

The role requires traveling to active sites and maintaining Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility. You will mentor technicians, establish standard practices, and manage projects from concept through completion to ensure high uptime

Responsibilities

Act as primary escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee routine and emergency services on critical systems.
Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within SLAs.
Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with Facility Manager to set team culture.
Create and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations teams and vendors.
Support build-out of new facilities and projects to improve facility efficiency.
Work outside normal hours for maintenance and emergency response as needed.
Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to optimize safety and reliability.
