Job description

Electrical Chief Inspector

CAP Government, Inc. is seeking to immediately hire a licensed Electrical Chief Inspector for construction project inspection and plan review services. The role involves interpreting regulations, reviewing blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings, and other project documents. Some travel may be required for inspections or managing projects in the assigned area. Candidates must possess a professional demeanor, technical and industry experience, and be team players.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Relay technical information effectively to owners, contractors, municipal clients, and staff, tailoring communication to the audience.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding compliance with electrical codes.
  • Implement enforcement procedures under the direction of the client's jurisdiction to correct violations.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and resolve conflicts promptly.
  • Interact with client jurisdictions, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors regarding code compliance.
  • Coordinate processes with inspection staff of various jurisdictions to ensure timely decisions.
  • Prepare written communications such as correction notices to property owners and contractors.
  • Perform technical inspections and review plans for compliance with electrical codes, resolving conflicts as needed.
  • Participate in discussions on code interpretations.
  • Attend training to improve technical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
  • Analyze complex issues and make timely decisions.
  • Perform plan reviews for residential and commercial projects for code conformance, providing high customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) in electrical, or
  • State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in electrical, or
  • State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in electrical, or
  • Journeyman Electrical Certificate with ten years of experience as a practicing electrical master or journeyman.

Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and the ability to interpret and evaluate projects for code conformance are essential. Certification as a Plans Examiner by Miami Dade or Broward County BORA is a plus.
