Job summary

Family Promise in Summit, NJ seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead the organization’s philanthropic growth, donor engagement, and fundraising strategy. You will work with the CEO, Board, and Affiliates to set multi-year revenue goals and build systems that sustain growth.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on relationship building, overseeing a six-person Development team, managing campaigns, major gifts, and partnerships while ensuring ethical fundraising and impact reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a relevant field or CFRE credential preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive fundraising leadership experience with substantial revenue goals.
• Demonstrated success personally securing major gifts of $1M+ and building relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations.
• Experience planning and executing major campaigns including lead-gift strategy.
• Strong understanding of donor acquisition, stewardship, retention, forecasting, and fundraising data systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead an integrated philanthropic revenue portfolio spanning major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundations, and other sources.
• Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward high-capacity donors and institutional partners.
• Expand the donor pipeline, deepen existing relationships, and develop new markets and funding networks.
• Provide relationship plans and timely follow-up with CEO and Board on donor engagement.
• Oversee development operations, forecasting, data quality, and stewardship systems.
